WEIMAR: England midfielder Phil Foden temporarily left the training camp with the national squad to return to the United Kingdom to resolve family issues.
According to the English Football Association, Foden will return to camp ahead of the Euro 2024 knockout stage, but did not specify the exact date.
England, who finished Group C as champions, will play in the last 16 on Sunday, but their opponents have yet to be determined.
Foden has been one of England’s key players throughout the campaign in Germany, starting all three games and missing a number of scoring opportunities including the 1-1 draw against Denmark.
The 24-year-old has just spent the season with four-time Premier League champions Manchester City.
He also won the Premier League Player of the Year award after scoring 19 league goals and 27 goals in all competitions.
